Ideally located for an early morning trip to Chitzen Itza (10 minutes walk away) to beat the crowds. Style of the room is very original, although the small two-person bed felt a bit crowded tucked in the corner with only one side to get out. The private tour guide organized by the reception (Victor) was very good and knowledgeable, not only talking about Maya monuments but also about surroundings, Maya history and other information. We enjoyed our Chitzen Itza tour and found it our money well worth to have a private guide. For evening dining we'd recommend heading out a few kilometers down the road into "town", which has many nice-looking places. Unfortunately we only realized this after we'd spent two evenings working our way through the hotel's meal plan, which seemed overpriced for food not that special. The staff serving the meals and drinks could benefit from a customer service training or some kind of incentives to get their motivation up; they came across demotivated and de-spirited which was a real pity. The hotel could benefit from a more proactive attitude in serving customers beside the pool; actively asking if people would like to order something would get more cash in the register as well as make customers appreciate the place more. Oh, and after your early morning Chitzen Itza trip, try to beat the crowds at the nearby cenote as well - it's definitely worth a dive and a good option to make your day in that area complete.
