Really nice place, but the double bed was shocking. No support in the mattress soft and spring sticking in to your body. It was a shame the bed was so poor and let the experience down.
I didnât stay here although I had booked and no one notified me that the hotel was actually closed! I booked it as it appeared on the website to be close to the station, so I walked with my bag and suitcase from the station⊠I sat in the derelict beer garden on the pavement side of the hotel. I phoned the number on the web, to be told by a polite young lady that her colleague would call me. He did call to say I had been âupgradedâ to the sister hotel due to flooding in some rooms. He tried to explain how to get to the âsisterâ hotel⊠which was the shepherds rest. He ordered a taxi, the taxi driver certainly could not speak or understand English đł.. I told him the hotel would pay, but he insisted that I paid, and wouldnât accept Scottish currency despite the fact that it is legal tender in the UK. The Shepherds rest only deserves a mention because Jamie tries his very best! If I ran a business I would employ someone like him!
He did give me a complimentary drink, considering I paid for the taxi. I asked if I could have supper there.. he asked if I had brought food as they have no restaurant!! I certainly did not have the energy to walk into the Center of town at Sowerby Bridge⊠so I gave supper a miss. The smart TV was good⊠I couldnât close the velux style window and hoped it wouldnât rain on the newly refurbished âupgradedâ room. If I didnât have a sense of humour I would be furious⊠cest La vie!!! Highly recommend Jamie⊠niether hotel though, sadlyâŠ
the bed was rock hard , the access to the room which wasn't very clean and had cardboard blocking off the open fire place ,was up two narrow flights of stairs . You could hear all the road noise through the single pane windows. parking was on the street behind the hotel ,on a fist come first serve basis . when i first looked at the hotel im sure it was ÂŁ 83 . but when i went through all the confirming stages, paid and then got a reciept it was ÂŁ100. I wont be using Hotels. com again !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Craig the host was very friendly and arranged taxi transport to & from Piece Hall to his new hotel as The Bull on the Bridge was overbooked. Excellent customer service & both hotels were v nice!
Really basic room. The shower is in the corner of the room and it's shared toilet. No wardrobe. Just a few kitchen cupboards.
Location is excellent and the staff are lovely.
