The hotel is located about 10 minutes walk from the main station and next to Hsinchu Moat Park with lots of restaurants and bars around.
Across the hotel is a school. Thanks to that it will be very quiet at night, but expect lots of noise during weekdays starting at 7am.
The room is spacious and although furniture is quite old most of it is in good shape. Exceptions were the carpet (didn't look very good anymore) and the mattress of the sofa which looked desperate and I suspect to be the source of a bad smell in the room. On the other hand, the large desk had a very modern and good quality office chair.
Room cleaning is done very late. One day I didn't get it done at all because they hadn't started when I came back to my room around 2:30pm. That could be improved a bit.
On the ground floor the hotel offers a very comfortable restaurant / lobby area with a few outdoor seats and all day free drinks and cookies. Breakfast is served there as well until 10am. They have a very mixed choice of Chinese food, bread, British style (baked beans and fries), fresh fruit and salad. Unfortunately at the least for vegetarians it wasn't really exciting and it will be the same every day, no variations.
Check in was quite slow and took a few minutes but check out was done quickly.
Overall a good hotel for a fair price.
