I stayed there with my girlfriend for 2 nights to participate in a running event. After the event, we decided to spend the days in the surrounding areas, visiting a few locations so suffice to say, we weren't in our room most of the time, only really to sleep, so our "requirements" I think, was pretty minimal.
There were 2 things which were notable:
1) The door lock is the common round "push to lock" knob you see in people's homes in Thailand. The kind you have to push the button on the inside of the room before you leave and close the door so it is locked. If you forget to do this and just close the door, it doesn't lock. All this is fine and good as both my girlfriend and I are pretty aware and always check that the door is locked before we head out. The problem is that we stayed here for 3 days 2 nights and on both days where the maid came to clean the room, he/she left the room UNLOCKED! The first time, it happened, we didn't think much of it as we weren't sure if it was just us "forgetting to lock" it - basically we gave the hotel the benefit of the doubt. Both of us were aware though, that as I turned the key, there was no "click" associated with the door unlocking.
The 2nd time, we were very AWARE and yes, the door just opened.........without the key.
For a hotel to rely on this sort of mechanism to protect guests and their properties, you need to MAKE SURE YOUR STAFF lock the doors..
2) Paper-thin walls. We could hear the TV from the next room.
