We were very unlucky, as the weather was bad while we stayed on Savaii, it was raining, often heavy and strong, gusty winds.
The resort is situated on a small stretch of land between road and ocean. The bungalows are nicely styled but quite near the ocean. The heavy winds blew the rain against door and window of the bungalow, and water ran into the room. So it was decided to nail a giant dark plastic shield across door and window and we felt really closed in.
The restaurant was "protected" against rain and wind with dark plastik shields as well, so we sat in the dark instead of looking towards the ocean.
Undoubtedly protection against wind and rain was necessary - but we have seen different methods, less primitive.
I didn't find this adeguate.
What made me really unhappy in this situation was the fact that there was nobody " in charge", no manager to take care of us, to give explanations, to express excuse about the limitations we had to except. It is called "hotel without reception" which might work in a normal situation, but to leave guests unattended, without information and explanation in a heavy storm - that I did really dislike and I found it unacceptable.
