I stayed here for a book convention and paid $550 for two nightsânot because it was worth it (it isnât), but because the event was hosted on-site. When I arrived Friday, the bellhops were gone, so the front desk held my ID and let me borrow a cart to haul boxes to my room myself. The valet was great and also helped.
On Sunday, I asked the bellhop desk for help to my car and was told Iâd be chargedâbut no one could agree on how. One said âby the pound,â another said âby the package,â and no one could give an estimate. No scale in sight. Iâve stayed in hotels around the world and have never been charged for a bellhopâtipping has always sufficed.
When I asked to borrow a cart again, I was told no because the bellhops were âon duty.â So I was out of luck unless I paid an unclear fee. Meanwhile, 6â8 idle bellhops stood around as my daughter, sister, and I made multiple exhausting trips with one small personal cart. One even wandered into the convention room looking for someone to upsell. It felt predatory.
The hotel is outdated, overpriced, and unhelpful. I will not recommend it for future events.
