arriving from the airport the hotel looked nice but we were surprised that we were welcomed right away by a manager who wanted to see a printed confirmation of the booking as they would not believe us or expect us. anyway we were told that we could not stay in the hotel as there would be a major problem with the water system and we were brought right away to another hotel , the Borei Angkor, which was not bad at all, but of course it not 5 star. we did not get anything refunded and my son was rather disappointed although people at the check in and so on were very nice. the taxi driver had offered us to do a tour to the temples the day after arriving and we agreed, finally we heard from the staff that their tour would be much better if we did it with them, double price compared to the taxi. alas we did it. any difference to normal taxi: no!! but the guy did not even tell us that we needed a passport for the 11 year old to get the reduction for the tickets, so when we went there for sunrise, we had to pay full price as I did not want to go back to the hotel. so this is really not what you expect from a tour guide. finally the guide did not tell us anything, he only brought us from one place to the other, he was friendly but the taxi driver who spoke a very good english would have showed to much for half the price. I was really disappointed. finally I met someone who had staid the same time in the lotus blanc!! and they did not have any water problems at all apparently.
