This is an amazing B&B that you can use as a base for exploring Hadrian's Wall. Brain & Gill are great hosts. The room is great with a kettle, tea and coffee. Breakfast is self-service, and you have a nice selection of cereals, fruit, juice, milk, bread, coffee, and tea. All that you need to get started. You can use the kitchen later in the day if you want to cook your own meals instead of the outside option. Fully recommend.

Have stayed there before - pre Covid. Very helpful owner, Brian, gives you the freedom of the place and its facilities. Kitchen is well stocked with a variety of breakfast foods. It's just like a home from home.

Brian, the owner, shared so much information with us about Hadrianā€™s Wall and the surrounding area. He was a delightful raconteur. He even drove us to Hadrianā€™s Wall himself in order to help us out. His advice about where to go was spot on and made our day wonderful. Even though we had checked out, he let us store our bags at the B&B. The hotel itself was extremely convenient and close to the train station. The view of the river was lovely. I would highly recommend this spot if you come to Northumberland!

Well situated for a visit to the Wall and Roman remains, this was a very pleasant stay. Very quiet - surprisingly so, for its placement on a corner. Brian recommended The Havelock for dinner, and it was delicious!

We loved our stay at the Reading Rooms. Brian, one of the hosts, went out of his way to accommodate us. The room was lovely, homey, and spotless. The kitchen and laundry rooms were clean and available and the location couldn't be better. We would return anytime we are in the area. We highly recommend The Reading Rooms.

Such a delight to stay here! Room was spacious and bright and clean and comfy!! The host was very welcoming and knowledgeable. He had us giggling right away. Loved it!! The area was very pretty and we found all we needed nearby.
