Jinetes de Osa is a nice place, run by nice folks. The rooms are spacious and clean. Ours had 4 beds. The room had bars of soap, but no shampoo, conditioner or other amenities. However the biggest miss was knowledge that there are 270 steps to climb to get to the room. The view was spectacular,
The restaurant, a separate business, was very good. We booked a tour through the hotel and were very glad we did, we arrived at Corcovado earlier than everyone else and Rolando was the best guide. He was telling the other (younger) guides where to find the animals.
Amazing spot. Great views to bahia Drake
Meat at restaurant was very good. Good smoothies too
Friedly personnel
Very old and uncomfortable room
Way too expensive for quality
Too many stairs to get to the room
Cannot swim in front of the hotel as there is a river very close where cocodriles are shown from time to time (swimming is allowed after walking 5 milnutes over the bay)
Great hotel in a bad location. Folks sleep here and spend their days away on tours, diving, and birdwatching. Even though the ocean is meters away, there's no surf, no snorkling and the water is too filled with organic debris for swimming.. from the forest, I guess. Consierge Rollando holds everything together. Don't try to schedule tours yourself, ask Rollando.
The staff was very friendly, but the property has limited resources. No A/C, easy access for bugs in the room and for outdoor noise due to the screamed windows that are meant to be open always. Also the ceiling is made out of metal sheets, it rained in the middle of night while we were there and the noise was so loud we couldnât sleep. There was no shampoo in the room only soap bars. The hotel is right at the beach which offered beautiful views and easy access to boats, the only form of transportation it town.
Tolle Tage. Pura Vida.
The property is located away from town but close enough to walk. There is a fabulous restaurant on site. Very easy access to the beach. Rolando was very informative and helped us get set up for our tour the following morning. The staff were waiting for us when we arrived by boat shuttle and helped with our luggage. Nice place; nice views; staff helpful. I'd go back
My only complaint was the food was very overpriced and didnât taste that great. After one dinner we ate at other places the rest of our stay. However the breakfasts were fantastic, simple, healthy and included with the room
The room we booked was not the room we were given. Booked for two nights and stayed one night since we arrived late and had little choice. We tried to work with the front desk the next day, but they refused to correct it. Instead of staying our second night, we decided to check out. We paid in full on reservation, but the front desk argued that we needed to pay a second time by credit card at the desk. Luckily I checked, and showed them the receipts.
Extremely disorganized front desk. We paid extra for a nicer room and were put in a regular room.
Walking around, we found other places in Drake for 30-50% of the price that were just as nice. The ONLY reason I would stay here is if you had cash to burn and you wanted to wake up next to the dive shop. (The dive shop is amazing, 5/5 for them).
Service here is terrible. The room we stayed in looks nothing like the picture, there was a single window at the front of the unit and it was altogether dark and dingy. The bathroom is separated from the bedroom by a wall (no ceiling) which might be uncomfortable for some groups.
Absolutely loved our time in Costa Rica, this hotel and our experience there was our only low point. Save your money. This place pretends to be a nice seaside hotel but it is a dump.
