This was THE most enchanting, quaint, beautiful, well cared for stay. It will be difficult to relay how abruptly passionate I am for Puddicombe House, and the only way you’ll understand is if you choose to stay there.
The property is immaculate. The family who owns it has clearly put so much time and love into making this a luxury destination stay - I feel like they should charge more, and I’m glad they don’t because I got to stay there for (what is, I now feel, having experienced it) a steal. There wasn’t a single detail out of place. They’ve preserved the Victorian charm, the historical feel, and the beauty of the old architecture while making the downstairs restaurant a high scale attraction. The whole of the building has been perfectly cultivated.
The food was exquisite. We ordered the blueberry Brie platter the night we stayed, and the next morning shared the simplest breakfast, yet every bite of everything was the kind of good that you simply must savor and take your time with - we wanted to stretch every bite further into time. The coffee >> when the waitress refilled our cups, there was crema that foamed up to the surface - something I expect in an espresso shot and was delighted to see in my breakfast mug.
The staff were beyond helpful. Not only was our check in simple and smooth, room service quick and quality, but when we had a small problem with the TV in our room, two of the owners came up to help us address it and ensure our comfortable stay.
