Our start at the Padma Retreat was a bit difficult. There was a misunderstanding regarding air condition in the room. The Hotel website sais that the superior rooms have air condition, but there was just a fan. However, a bit hidden in the details of the expedia website was clearly stated that there is a fan, so there was some contribution also from our side to this misunderstanding. I hope their website will be more clear here soon. However, the climate in Ubud at night was cool enough for us to just use the fan.
We had room 101, it is the ground floor room of the older building. Although you are in 15 seconds at the pool, the room offers good privacy because it's window is towards a wonderfully decorated small part of the garden.
For the start we received a free welcome fruit juice and every afternoon, we got free coffee and tee to our terrace. The breakfast was served on our terrace and good for the room price and Indonesian standards, with a choice between pancake or egg in different varieties and a good choice of fruit.
The cleanliness of the overall hotel is good. Our room 101 has apparently been renovated in parts recently (as the whole hotel seems to have had a renovation). Unfortunately, in some details you still see that things have their age. While the new shower is really nicely decorated (the nicest on our trip in Indonesia), the toilet and sink in room 101 are very old. Especially the dirty toilet should really be changed very soon to increase the value of this
