Green Tree Inn Nantong
I had a terrible experience with this hotel. Although I try to make lemonade out of lemons when I can, this experience didnât avail itself to positivity in any way.
I had paid up front for a week at this hotel mainly because of the advertised price and the reference to âwe speak Englishâ. The problems started when it took me extra days to get my visa. I arrived a couple days late for check-in, but had called the hotel (but no English followed by disconnection) each day to report my delay. I had to communicate through an Expedia agent (which always takes more time and effort) and each time they reassured me the remaining days on the reservation were available but I would not be refunded the unused days. I finally got there with two days left but the front desk struggled to even find my reservation. They found a manager for me who spoke a few words of English. She wanted Double the money from my original reservation before letting me in. She couldnât find any record of my previous payment.
So I got Expedia on the line and they tried to intervene. The hotel wouldnât take the call. Bottom line, my plans shifted and it was a non refundable ticket. I thought I could salvage at least a couple days since I âchecked-inâ by phone. Nope.
Plan on difficulty communicating and painful adjustments to your bill. Itâs frustrating and infuriating. Book here and keep your fingers crossed. Best wishes.
