The hotel was overwhelmed by a group of families attending a nearby sports activity. At check-in there was a party with pizza and drinks being held in the small lobby. We could not even hear the poor man at the desk as he welcomed us. We didn't even unload our bags before leaving again to find dinner, hoping it would calm down by the time we returned. Unfortunately it was even louder two hours later. Children were running in the halls and parking area screaming, unattended by their parents. We thought one child was actually in trouble, he was screaming so loudly. We found another boy sitting on top of him on the lawn as we entered the hotel. At one point a stunned elderly man checked into the room next to us and advised us to avoid the lobby. The thumping, banging, and yelling continued well after 10 pm, and started again early in the morning. This is a lovely hotel in a great location. The staff was friendly and helpful, but clearly overwhelmed. I have stayed in hotels with sports groups before, and not even known they were there. The hotel should enforce a limit to the number of guests gathering in the check-in area, at least some level of acceptable noise in common areas, and some rules about unattended children. A child could have easily been hit by a car in the parking lot or taken by someone.
