A very unique place to stay, fun to look around at all the old school items!! The room was unique and very spacious.. great bed and hostess!!! Very walkable to restaurants and stores..
Highly recommend this charming bed and breakfast! The service was very responsive, the food excellent, the decor interesting and approachable. And donât forget the great deck behind the gymnasium. The first night of our stay coincided with a band practicing for an upcoming performance so we had a private concert!
The only downside was that the weather was extremely hot, so we werenât able to fit in all the outdoor activities weâd been looking forward to.
Well done, Lyle and Tammy! Thank you for your hospitality and thoughtfulness đ
I don't often leave reviews but this hotel is exceptional.
The owner showed me to the room and explained all the facilities. The room itself was huge, beautifully clean and with the wonderful quirk of still resembling a school classroom. Some previous guests had even left messages on the blackboards.
I made use of both the Jacuzzi and the separate shower, and enjoyed the cooked breakfast which was brought to my room in the morning. I didn't make use of the complimentary popcorn and DVD selection but that was also a nice touch.
A very enjoyable stay.
My 14-year-old daughter loved it!!! My 18-year-old son said heâd stay there again. A fun adventure!!! Outdoor deck/patio, tons of family/party games and DVDs available. Lyle, one of the owners, gave us a nice tour of the facility and treated us very well. Would also be an excellent venue for a family reunion or small business retreat weekend. Offers modern suites and older school room suites with decor taking one back to grade school. Gymnasium, including a performance stage, has several functionalities. Close to several southern Illinois State Parks and Bald Knob Cross.
We really enjoyed our stay - wish we could have stayed longer. The Inn WAS special, Lyle was a good host, and breakfast was such a nice offering. YES, we will be back!
This converted school is a hidden gem for visitors of the area wine trails. The breakfast served to your room daily was more than we could eat and was delicious and healthy. The room was beautiful keeping in a pink theme (each room has a color). The innkeeper was very friendly and was quick to respond to any requests. Couldnât have made a better choice for our weekend tasting wine.
Great, unique building in an impressively renovated school, the breakfast was absolutely incredible and the atmosphere was quiet, private and relaxed. You can tell care was put into every detail of the place. Would highly recommend! Thank you Lyle and Tammy.
Owner/Host was outstanding and worked with us through some travel issues with flight cancellations etc.
The nostalgic property offered us exactly what we needed for a weekend trip to visit family in the area.
The bed was very comfortable, the room was clean and accommodating, and the breakfast was OUTSTANDING.
I would recommend to anyone needing a room in the area.
Davie school Inn is a beautiful piece of history. Started with a brief tour, then onward to our room (purple) which was a gorgeous escape from the everyday. In room jetted tub, beautiful fireplace, sitting area for dining and entertainment, freshly made breakfast delivered right to our door and a super comfortable bed and pillows are just some of the thing we loved on our stay. Lyle did a wonderful job as our innkeeper. Super informative and always ready to help with anything you may need. All in all a gorgeous little gem right here in southern Illinois.
