I am writing to formally report a serious incident that occurred during my recent stay at Doubletree from 11/26-11/29 in room 430.
On the night of 11/26, at approximately 11:00 PM, a member of your staff entered my room without knocking, announcing himself, or providing any identification. He later stated that he believed my door was “slightly open,” but regardless of his assumption, entering a guest’s room, especially that late at night, without attempting to knock or verify occupancy is a violation of basic guest safety and privacy protocols. Upon entering, he later identified himself as security.
At the time, I was in my undergarments, and as a woman traveling alone, this unexpected intrusion left me startled, uncomfortable, and feeling unsafe. This experience falls far below the standards I expect when staying at a reputable hotel, and it undermined my sense of security for the remainder of my visit. I made my way downstairs to speak with the host to report the incident. I was immediately informed the hotel doesn’t have onsite security. The fear in my mind began to race as I questioned who was the man that just entered my room? As I begin to describe him, I was informed it was your building engineer.
Given the severity of this incident, I am requesting compensation in the form of a refund for that night’s stay, or an equivalent accommodation. I believe this is a reasonable request considering the distress and breach of privacy I experienced.
