There are things to love about staying at the Flamingo Vallarta Marina Hotel and things that make you cringe. It is not a 4 star hotel despite the ratings. The hotel definitely has the prettiest marina-side garden, pool patio of any location at this marina. The restaurant creates tasty food and the staff are friendly and helpful. However, the room we were booked into left a lot to be desired. The unit was as clean as it could be with bleach, but the smell of rot was so overwhelming my sinuses were overwhelmed. Any clothes left out absorbed the stench. The bed was new, which was great. The odd, built in dresser cupboard unit was in such bad shape, the doors did not close. The door to the bathroom which was a shower and toilet could not be closed no matter what. There was a drain in the floor near the toilet that had thick black sludge in it. It was hard to close and lock the sliding glass door to the balcony, and the glass was so thin when the people were on the deck next door, it was like they were in our room. We heard everything they said. We had a junior suite which had two twin beds, covered with a sheet each, and a table and chairs by a sink and counter for seating. There was no couch, no pillows to make it into a kind of living area to sit if you wanted to. The TV had a bad burn in all around the edges so watching anything on it was fuzzy. There was a big empty spot where there used to be a fridge. They offered us a cooler. I loved it, yet I was so dissapointed.
