Booked this for just a safe secure room for
The night after a terrible week.
Upon booking I requested an earlier check in.
Also nothing on the advisement of the ad mentioning you need to go to honeysuckle first to pick up the physical key and pay a further $150 , which I definitely did not have out of pocket and did not have the ability to be able to go 2km up from the hotel to get the keys either. Iâd suggest maybe upgrading / changing check in progress , unfortunately I never even stayed there as I had to pay even more for the keys.
Unless you have to time
To run around I would recommend
I booked the room at Newcastle Interchange Apartments in good faith, just to discover that I didn't get the e-mail with the check-in instructions.
The phone number stated on hotels.com is fake, so I couldn't call the host, and there was nothing at the location. At around 21.00 I decided to inform hotels.com that this is not a serious actor, and claim a refund for the booking. They suggested that I probably haven't read the T&C's properly, and that the booking is non-refundable(!)
I replied back and pointed out that even the contact number to the hotel is fake, and got a final response from hotels.com at 23.57, suggesting a number of things that clearly shows that they hadn't read my previous e-mails, that they have no understanding that the world is operating in different time zones, a suggestion to check the door at the location, and that they MIGHT be able to issue a refund - if the "hotel" agrees to.
3 days later and I obviously never heard anything from Newcastle Interchange Apartments, and still nothing further from hotels.com.
VERY dissatisfied with how Newcastle Interchange Apartments and hotels.com has treated this thing, and I will seriously consider booking my hotels from a different site from now on.
This is the ultimate self contained apartment literally a stone's throw from the platform at Newcastle Interchange. We only stayed for one night to see a show at Civic Theatre but if we head back for a longer time to explore Newcastle we'll try and stay here! The property, as i mentioned is close to the train station, light rail station, bus Interchange and ferry wharf. Apart from transport the accommodation is close to a major shopping complex (Marketown) as well as numerous restaurants, cafes and bars throughout the Honeysuckle precinct. The apartment was surprisingly quiet given how centrally located it is. The apartment boasted a great kitchen with everything you need, a great bedroom with a comfy bed and laundry with a washer and dryer. It would suit a single/ couple coming to stay for an extended period or just a few nights in the city in a comfortable, homely environment. My only negative is that the key needs to be picked up and dropped from the Chifly Apartments that is approximately 1km away. Given we were after a quick checkout this was a slight inconvenience to an otherwise perfect weekend đ
* Took 3 days to get the correct password for the free wifi.
* Kitchen floor was sticky from spilt soft drink - so I had to clean it.
* Well kitted out
The place you pick the keys up from, and drop off, is 2lm away from the property. Very inconvenient. I was not informed of this when booking and was then lied to twice about it. I was told itâs just around the corner. Apartment is ok. Clean but noisy. Wonât be going back
Booked apartment for overnight stay in Newcastle,
Got a call explaining I had to pick up keys in a different location that was in a difficult area to get to, I did this, I paid a large deposit that is not mentioned anywhere in booking details, the deposit was refunded upon return of the keys to the very difficult to get to hotel in Honeysuckle, a highly populated, extremely high traffic area . My opinion , disaster of a way to do things. Get a key lock box at property, itâs 2024
