I am usually not one to complain, but I was extremely disappointed by the Nanchang Hotel. They claim to be a 4 star hotel, but this is definitely not 4 star standard. I am astonished by the positive reviews this hotel has gotten, to me they sound like they're describing an entirely different place.
Me and my colleague stayed here one night and when we arrived we each got a small room without bed linen. We asked about this and were moved to new rooms, where there was bed linen but no mattresses (only a thin cover on top of a hard bed base and the cover was too small to cover the base). We got new rooms again, where the beds were the same but at least there were mattress covers that were the same size as the bed. The bed was really hard and the general standard of the room was way below what you would expect from a 4 star hotel.
The restaurant was ok for dinner, but many things from the menu were unavailable. At breakfast I asked if there was meat in the noodles and rice (as I am a vegetarian) and was told no, but after taking one bite I realized that there definitely was meat in it.
I asked if I could book a taxi to go to one of the top tourist destinations in Nairobi, but I got a driver who wasn't a taxi driver (probably just a friend of someone in the hotel). He tried to charge me 3 times the normal price and had to stop several times al
