San Francesco Relais is a very reasonably priced, peaceful and unique place to stay, away from the tourists trappings.
It's a 5 minute walk to the harbour, Marina della Lobra that offers a welcoming family run bar, Angelo's and the most delicious food at Ristorante da Michele, also family run with fresh fish on the menu and the best homemade pistachio panna cotta to ever pass my lips.
The main town of Massa Lubrense is a little hike up the hill where you can easily catch a bus to Sorento, Amalfi and beyond. There is also a good place to get gelato (very important).
I would say San Francesco Relais is the place is for you if you are in a reflective mood, have a pile of books to read or maybe you are a writer.
You can also get a boat ride to the more touristy locations of Capri, Amalfi or Positano although it will set you back 50 euros or so and taxis are also very expensive for those on a budget and I can imagine it's pretty intense in the summer months. My visit was in May after cycling from Rome so this provided me with the perfect spot to chill and recuperate.
