Perhaps I overestimated what my experience would be like, but the hotel was very dated, with narrow hallways and dirty, worn carpets. The âliftsâ looked claustrophobic and unsafe, so I opted to use the stairs instead. The room was fine. Small but clean with a nice bathroom. I had trouble sleeping because it was VERY noisy, with weird flushing sounds, creaky floors, and other sounds I canât quite describe. The hotel also didnât offer any amenities, not even coffee during my stay. I left as soon as I woke up, and I definitely wonât be back.
The location is great but I wonât return. As much as I wanted to love this place, it was mostly uncomfortable. We got a king room with a seating area. The bed was not at all comfortable and the pillows were flat and unhelpful. The king bed was edged into a portion of the room that barely fit so one side had a tiny table next to it and the other side didnât have enough room to walk next to the bed, let alone a side table. What I didnât understand is why they wouldnât add a few little shelves on the wall instead, so there was a place to put your phone etc. the lift was old and charming but hard to navigate with bags and a dog.
There was one person who gave such excellent service, the blonde woman who worked at night. The other people who worked there were fine except for the younger woman whoâs service was below the level I expected (seemed kind of bored, didnât explain the parking options very well, etc).
The BAR is a little oasis of loveliness. Absolutely superb, secret, beautiful.
Dreadful stay. In the room opposite they were smoking (non smoking hotel) and set the alarm off in the middle of the night.
The room floor was dirty.
Not an enjoyable stay
The Dean Hotel is one of the few that will still offer to clean and straighten up you room daily. I did not necessarily need that, but I am thankful that it was offered. And, it was a pleasantly different place to stay.
While the staff was pleasant and the overall building was nice, we were not told ahead of time that the air conditioning wasnât working. Our room was quite hot. The staff did provide a fan; however, we elected to not stay our two nights booked because of this. Additionally, the coffee bar advertised was not operational. This was a driving factor for our booking, so that was disappointing.
The building is old but has a nostalgic feeling to it. The walls are thin... got to hear the neighbors through the night, and early morning as well as the pipes making noise when you use the hot water. But the bed was comfy :)
