Did a Saturday overnight stay in a superior room. Very small and bathroom was accross a small corridor so not a true en-suite. Bathroom smelt damp and shower didnât look inviting so we didnât use it. Be aware, they have live music on until midnight so not suitable for anyone looking for an early night
Breakfast next morning was very good to be fair. So overall, I would say okay at best!
The person that checked me in (Oli I think) was very kind and welcoming. There was an issue with heating and hot water which Oli rectified straight away and was cheerful and helpful throughout.
The chef on breakfast service was outstanding, friendly and got the food out in a timely manner, 5 stars for breakfast. Extremely tasty and good variety
Dinner service was reasonably priced with a good variety, good value for money.
Overall, this is a lovely place to stay and I would stay here again.
The only constructive criticism would be to refresh the decoration in the rooms (just starting to get a little tired) and for the other staff to equal the friendliness and enthusiasm of the 2 mentioned above.
Not one for a relaxing weekend away. Good was nice
Tv would not work, would not turn on and remote wouldnât connect. Went down and asked for help, âIâm new to this placeâ was the reply and âIâll get someone to help youâ nobody did! Room was quite dusty, especially by the tv, as we were trying to find buttons to work it! Wouldnât choose to stay there again purely because of the music blaring from our 3pm checkin. Weâd read up and believed it started from 9:30 but that was just the live music. Not the chilled out experience we hoped for away from our hectic lives. Breakfast was nice but no coffee cups, run out of coffee and hot water, 1 person serving tables, seating tables and topping all stock up was a battle.
The Malt House is situated close to the river with a great outdoor seating area to enjoy a drink and a meal. The food both breakfast and dinner is excellent and the beers in the Malt House and sister pub the Swan inn are also excellent. The staff are helpful and friendly , the rooms are comfortable with good en suite showers . The rate to stay is also good. I would definitely stay again .
What an awful place. I stayed for 3 nights and it was the worst 3 night stay iv ever had. First night was a Saturday night and they had live music on downstairs. It was soooo loud that the toilet seat and shower door were shaking for the whole gig. I had the tv on full volume and i still couldnt hear it. Awful considering i was there for business and had an all day event the next morning. The following morning i went down early for breakfast and it was disgusting downstairs. Stunk like a nightclub toilet everywhere and there was toilet paper and glasses on the floor still. Our shower basin was blocked and whilst showering the water kept building up and nearly overflowing the basin so you could only shower for about 4 minutes. I reported it but nothing got done. The last night we had no hot water at all from the taps or shower. What a joke of a place. I think the local council should inspect this place and actually check if its actually a viable place to let people stay.
The hotel was a bit tired upstairs but downstairs had been fully decorated & was modern & different.
Our room was at the back so it was quiet but as it had no window there was no fresh air & it smelt a bit of cigarette smoke too. The bed was ok & the bathroom was fine. There was tea & coffee & a tv but no signal so dont know if it worked !
We paid extra for breakfast which was really tasty especially the sausages! The staff were all friendly & hard working.
Have stayed here before hence why we booked again, however we feel the cleanliness has gone down hill & meals are now very expensive. Although there is cheaper options. The service wasn't as good as before. Breakfast was good. window in one bedroom was painted shut therefore unable to open to let air in!
