Nicely situated for the Melrose Abbey and car parking behind the hotel appreciated. The room needs refreshing and the yellowing shower curtain needs replacing. We were over the main road so I think we had the « hotels.com room »
We had a very warm informative welcome. The room was at the back which helped it be quieter when the private parties could be loud when they were on in the function room. It looks as if some updating is happening and needs new window frames and closers. The bed was comfy. Hospitality tray was great. In the bar the staff were great. You were served quickly and they kept the bar tidy. They were very friendly. We had bar sharing plate snack which was amazing. We didnât have breakfast as not breakfast eaters so canât comment about that.
We loved our stay and everything about the hotel.
Another stay at the G and A.
My only criticism would be the need for heavier curtains in the room, as they are very thin so the room is extremely bright in the morning.
Convenient for an overnight stay, but there is no AC or electric fans available at reception and it was a hot day/evening.
Breakfast for the price is great!!!
A very central big old hotel with nice staff. The pub had excellent food.
Unfortunately there was a gang of golfer's too noisy to here the singer that preformed.
Hotel looked a bit run down. External + internal paintwork needed touching up. Plenty of car parking space. New carpet in reception. The staff were very friendly, the food was good and the beer excellent! Probably the best breakfast I've had so far this year!
The room was freezing. No one quite often not on reception. No hairdryer in the room. We're not able to check out. No invoice received and I wanted to pay the account on a different card which was impossible. We liked Melrose but it was a shame our first choice was full.
