Enjoyed the stay, staff were friendly and helpful. Ordering gluten-free and dairy-free food was easy, although just a salad for lunch with tomato, lettuce and onion was a bit uninspired.
We had a lovely stay, the hotel was wonderful and had a beautiful walled garden. We booked a garden room which had its own patio/seating area which over looked the garden and was especially nice as we had good weather. bed very comfy. Breakfast plentiful. We didnât have dinner in the hotel but can recommend the local pub, The Papermills, food was outstanding. The village of wandsford is very picturesque and had lovely walks by the river from the hotel to wandsford train station, which is an old station running steam trains to ferry meadows which was definitely worth a visit.
I have stayed at the Haycock many times for leisure. This time was for business. The Haycock is simply wonderful. The wine, food and accommodation is wonderful. The owners have given thought into the hotel with fantaictic wine glasses, snug kettles, Dyson hairdryers. The food is delicious and having ate at p
Amazing beautiful hotel, the street outside is also lovely, quaint village, staff were excellent and food was simply incredible, we will be going again
Based on the reviews received by this property, our expectations were high. But arriving after dark, the entrance to the car park isnât particularly well signposted from the main road and unlit. The biggest disappointment, however, was the supposedly âdeluxeâ room. At least ÂŁ60 more expensive than the âclassicâ double, it was uninspiring and not particularly well laid out. There wasnât even a table for in-room dining. Having said that, we arenât sure if they even really offer room service as there was no menu in the room. The rooms are supposedly ânewly designed and decoratedâ but both chairs were badly stained, the toilet holder was broken and there was black mould at the bottom of the shower screen. General cleanliness was good but with some surprising oversights (eg large cobwebs hanging from ceiling, toiletry dispensers covered in product from previous occupants).
The good bits: shower, bed and bedding were excellent and dinner very tasty. Breakfast was underwhelming. Whilst the Eggs Benedict were lovely, the buffet offerings were decidedly meagre and the server had an attitude. Overall, we would have been rather unhappy if we had paid the going rate.
So nearly very good. The room was nice, modern and clean but cold. The in-room air conditioning / heating struggled to keep the room warm.
The Christmas illuminations are lovely from the outside but not so much when they are keeping your room lit up all night, despite the best efforts of the curtains!
The staff at the Haycock were friendly and attentive, nothing was too much trouble for them. The food was excellent as was the ambience. I would love to return.
Excellent service from everyone I encountered - Lady on reception at check-in was polite, helpful and showed me to my room and explained the room functions etc
Bar service for food and drinks in the evening was also excellent and I used the gym which was really good too..
Look forward to my next stay..
I brought my Mum to the Haycock for a birthday present, the service was fantastic we even had dinner which was lovely. The grounds are stunning and staff are extremely attentive and couldnât do enough for us. Will definitely be returning. The only downside was breakfast, we were left waiting over 50 minutes for eggs royale and it was very quiet without a waiter/waitress to ask for the whereabouts, when we did find someone she apologised but they did loose our ticket with out breakfast order, luckily we werenât rushing :)
