This is a good hotel if you simply need a place to sleep. It is not a good hotel if you are exploring Florence for the first time ever. I was in Florence for 24 hours at a destination wedding, so thankfully, I didn't need to be in the hotel very long. And I have been to Florence many times (no need for long queues and long walks...this is key: you want to return to a decent hotel after a long day on your feet, especially in the summer). My family was not attending the wedding with me, so I didn't want to splurge on a nicer hotel so, admittedly, I knew what I was getting into. The pictures don't lie: it is bare bones, set in the 50s. I doubt if they've ever changed anything. The breakfast is also set in the 50s. No fresh fruit, no fresh orange juice. All is processed. Stale pastries and deli meats. Breakfast is not an option for you if you are vegan. If you are vegetarian, you can have yogurt and granola. However, the location is GREAT in terms of access to public transportation: you are at the end/start of the new tram line (Ospedale), which is handy to come and go into the city center. And a taxi to the airport is only EUR 16. In short: this hotel is fine if 1) you are traveling alone (no kids or romantic getaway); and 2) you only need to sleep.
