My friend and I traveled to Zermatt for a couple days as part of our trip to Switzerland. Peaky Riders seemed to be one of the cheaper hotels in Zermatt, and it looked pretty modern. Unfortunately, we don't recommend. As a caveat, this review is for the twin room (river view) option, so we cannot speak for any of the other options.
We knew we would be booking a smaller than average room, but we didn't expect it to be as small as it was. The listing noted that the twin room was 140 sq ft, but it was definitely smaller than that. To make matters worse, our air conditioning did not work because the thermostat knob was broken. When we asked one of the employees about it, she mentioned that she was going to fix it, but then she just insisted we could open our door to cool the room off. We slept with the door open because it was so hot, particularly on the top bunk. The shower has this water-saving feature that prevents the shower from staying on for more than around 20 seconds. Not too big a deal, but it's definitely a little annoying when you're trying to wash your hair/body. Lastly, the bedding was very uncomfortable and did not appear to have been cleaned recently. This was definitely the worst part of the stay. It made going to bed after a long day kinda miserable.
Some of the pros:
- the layout is updated/modern
- the hotel is only a 10 minute walk from the city (and there was a free bus stop about 5 minutes away)
