Not a large airport. Just under 3hr flight from Stanstead. Taxi from airport €22 to hotel. They do offer a shuttle for €20.
Pos - Hotel surrounded by bars, restaurants and close (walkable) to all tourist sights. We had a large twin room, plenty of space and very clean. Albania style furnished. Complimentary water and toiletries. Had a room overlooking the front. Despite range of restaurants etc on the doorstep, very quiet in the room.
Neg - short on hangers, 3 between two of us. Addressed when raised. Reception staff miserable. Breakfast staff also not welcoming. Breakfast okay, wide range of choice but bread felt stale and food not of a great quality. Would not have had a second time if not included in price.
Tourist sights not well signposted. You can easily walk past them. Lots of statues but they are not labelled in Albanian or English. House of leaves interesting, various mosques, Bock 2, (museum about communism). People friendly and helpful. Saw everything in the city over 1.5 days. Also hired a car and went up into the mountains to the cable car, good and a lake (reservoir), less exciting. However lots of beautiful scenery and great to see more of the country. All the food we ate out was of a high quality, large portions, and not expensive. Did not review anywhere, just happened upon places. A beer was £1.30 and a glass of wine about £2-3. Would like to go again and see a different part of the country.
