We've stayed at La Quinta hotels in the past, but this one was terrible. I dislike the trend of putting the bathroom sink in the room, separate from the toilet and shower, since it doesn't allow handwashing immediately after using the toilet. Worse than this, though, was a decision to place a panel of frosted glass between the shower and the bedroom, so there was no privacy for someone taking a shower. Moreover, both these designs meant that if anyone was using the bathroom at night, the bedroom was bathed in light, which wasn't helpful for someone trying to sleep. Instead of a closet, there was a vertical line of hooks. I'm 5'2" and was wearing 2' heels, and I could not reach beyond the bottom hook. Similarly, all of the bottles for shampoo, etc, were too high for me to use comfortably (though I do approve of the decision to replace small bottles with the large ones). I stayed in a similarly priced hotel in another city this week, and the contrast was stark; the other hotel was designed for comfort, and La Quinta just seemed to be focused on cost-cutting and, well, driving away its return customers.
