From the very beginning, I liked Mirabeau. At check in, they upgraded my room. The desk clerk, Nadine, was friendly and helpful. She took me on a short tour of the facilities and to my room to show me how the buttons in the room work. The room was very nice and had a patio with a magnificent view.
The breakfast buffet was free and high in quality with many choices. The waiters and dining room staff were energized, courteous, and eager to please. I left a 10 Euro tip at my table because I was so impressed.
The one negative thing I experienced at Mirabeau was on my third and final morning. Checkout time is 11 am and I had the “no maid service” button lit on my door. I had planned to sleep until 10:45 am because I didn’t get to bed until 4 am. However, at 9:45 am, the maid knocked on my door and woke me up. She was probably anxious to get the room made up for the next occupant. But that’s no reason to disturb the present occupant (me!) I could certainly have used that extra hour of sleep because I was tired and had a headache all day and I had to limit my Zermatt activities all day.
So, my rating of Mirabeau is 5 out of 5 stars … but if I ever experience that early wake up knock again, I will never return. Afterall, I rented that room thru 11 am, not 9:45 am.
