The day started great. We had fun with the jeep tour organized by Beyond Wadi Rum camp and met some other people along the way which would also be staying with us at Beyond Wadi Rum camp. At dusk, with our jeep tour coming to an end, we found out both jeeps drove in different directions and that we were not staying at the same camp. Instead, they brought us to the "second" Beyond Wadi Rum camp run by relatives.
This "second" camp itself was okay regarding room and facilities, and staff also did their best given the circumstances. However, it is not the real Beyond Wadi Rum camp which we explicitly booked well in advance in the first place.
To make matters worse, we were the only other tourists staying along groups of Israeli tourists, which were even accompanied by a police/security agent carrying a handgun and a tour guide/manager. Naturally, the only language spoken was Hebrew, along with a little bit of English with the personnel. This was not the most pleasant or genuine experience to begin with, but what really ruined it for us was the overall bad atmosphere. Most of the Israeli were completely uninterested in what the personnel had to say or proposed regarding activities. One of the groups was even as disrespectful to bring along a bottle of Gin and being rude to the Muslim personnel.
This last minute change of plans ruined our evening and part of the Wadi rum experience. We would have chosen a different camp if we knew in advance!
