Overall, my stay at Hotel du Vin in Bristol was quite pleasant. The room was clean, the bed was comfy, and the staff were accommodating when I requested a twin room. The charming courtyard adds a lovely touch, and it’s easy to get dropped off or park with its driveway, even though it’s located on a main road. The bathtubs are spacious and lovely, and the bathrooms are definitely the highlight of the room.
Some downsides: the rooms are incredibly dark. The lighting could definitely be improved. Additionally, some rooms are really close to an office, meaning you can see them and they can see you. You could close the curtains, but with the already dim lighting, that only adds to the lack of brightness. The staff seemed largely devoid of personality or banter. It’s possible this is just the direction from management, but it would’ve been nice to see more warmth. Also, their luggage storage isn’t secured, which feels a bit concerning. It’s a solid stay, but a few tweaks would improve the overall experience.
