The Ocean West Boutique Hotel is a gem on the island! It's a stunning place with an amazing view, on a quiet part of the island, outside of all the commotion of traffic and tourists. The hotel is a former private mansion and it feels like you are living a millionaire lifestyle. The rooms are very clean and well maintained. The pool is absolutely terrific. The personnel is extremely friendly. Yes, for about the same rate you can stay in the Atlantis, but that is overrated. If you want to go to the waterpark at Atlantis you are better of buying a single day ticket ($150). The experience at the hotel really captures the spirit "living it" on in the Bahamas. Nassau downtown is easily accessible by Bus 10 ($1.50), which stops right in front of the door to let you in and runs from 6am to 6.30pm. Everybody is very friendly on the bus and along the way are several places where you can get off by yelling "bus stop!", such as Starbucks, Subway, KFC, Gym, etc. The bus stops at the McDonalds and then returns in the opposite direction again. Around aren't that much places to eat within walking distance. However I had a pretty good burger next door (5 min walk) at the Plantation Hill bar. I really can recommend this to anybody traveling alone, with friends or as a couple. I believe the hotel also serves breakfast but it's a bit on the expensive side and choices are limited. Rooms are excellent, with fridge, flatscreen, clean bathroom, comfortable beds. Again the staff was just amazing!
