We arrived a couple of hours early, and the staff kindly allowed us to store our luggage until check in. We stayed in Room 8, located in the original part of the buildingâthe slightly slanted floors only added to the charm and character of the space!
The room came with coffee and tea, closet space, and a fridgeâa welcome bonus during our travels. The bathroom was very spacious, which we appreciated, and included individual bottles of shower gel and shampoo.
Make sure to spend an evening in the bar downstairs! The staff were an absolute delight and chatting with a few friendly locals made it one of the most memorable nights of our stay. Red, who worked the nights, was especially attentive and engaging. Connecting with people in the area truly adds depth to your travel experience.
The location is fantasticâwalking distance to Trinity Church, New Place, the River, and the Schoolhouse. Shakespeareâs birthplace, the shopping area, and Tesco are just a 5â7 minute walk. Thereâs also a hop-on hop-off bus stop nearby, though in my opinion, the bus wasn't worth it considering how close everything is. Youâll have plenty of dining options within walking distance.
I didnât have a chance to try dinner or breakfast, but based on everything else, I would absolutely recommend The Townhouse to anyone visiting Stratford-upon-Avon.
