I would give it 4.5 stars if you are not looking for a modern, super clean and efficient stay. The location is really the highlight of staying in this hotel/ hostel (it has rooms with bunk beds). The regular daily staff was not very responsive with inattention to my requests even though I was there 10 days. The evening and night staff were much more lively and accommodating. The manger/owner, I couldn't tell which, was very hands off from what I observed. The breakfast was just enough to get me going in the morning and had to be augmented. Not that this was a problem as there are many great eateries, including across the street, in the area. Coffee shops, bakeries, Italian restaurants and bars with night life. Safe and right out the door Barrio Escalante is the place I would want to be.

Helpful staff, flexible, and located in a safe neighborhood . However the room I was in was not well maintained, there was no ventilation, bathroom fixture was broken, the sheets were stained even though they smelled washed. I would def not recommend staying here for an extended period of time

Breakfast was a full tico style breakfast and the service was excellent. There are trains running nearby so a little noise but that’s probably everywhere in this neighborhood. I highly recommend. Great value for the price.

Staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. Room has very minimal comforts. Lots of street and train noise and noise from room above. Parking area is literally 5 feet from the bed and the walls are paper thin. Good access to restaurants.

A equipe é muito atenciosa e cordial, porém os quartos são muito modestos, os colchões são extremamente ruins, de péssimas condições e totalmente deformados por já terem ultrapasssfo o prazo de uso, assim como os travesseiros.

Small nice hotel in the heart in San Jose on barrio Escalante, very convenient to stay 1-2 nights to enjoy the city and/or night life . Room is average, beds, beddings, towels, soap in the bathroom, no fan or AC, it was a cool weather, so no needed. No elevator for the second floor, about 10 steps. The breakfast is great with traditional Costa Rican gallo pinto, coffee and fruits to start the day. Easy to walk everywhere or call Uber/taxi

Primero no hay un cartel visible del hotel. La habitación no tenía ni ventilador ni aire, era muy caliente. La cama súper incómoda, las almohadas casi peor. En el baño había muchas hormigas. En las 3 noches que estuve no hicieron la habitación nunca. Solo la primer noche cambiaron la toalla. El servicio de los trabajadores, maravilloso!
