Shopping in New York

Shopping in New York is an exhilarating experience thanks to its diverse range of retail options. Each neighbourhood offers something different, but all will satisfy your shopping desires. Markets host local farmers from across the state, selling fresh produce and homemade food items. Shopping malls house world-renowned brands, both high street and haute couture. 

For instance, Madison Avenue on the Upper East Side attracts the rich and famous with its couture boutiques, high-end jewellery shops, and upmarket malls. Must-visits include Saks Fifth Avenue, Bloomingdale's, and Bergdorf Goodman. Macy’s in Herald Square is an iconic New York department store year-round, but Christmas is when it's at its best (and busiest). 

East Village and Midtown have vintage clothing stores, computer shops, and family-run camera stores. Next, SoHo offers a decent mix of shopping options, from high-fashion and cult brands to trendy homeware and second-hand books. Also in SoHo is Nolita (North of Little Italy), a charming neighbourhood with narrow cobblestoned streets and unique window displays. It’s a charming and trendy area, consisting mostly of vintage boutiques and speciality shops. 

If you want a bit of everything in a single location, New York’s West Village is home to Bleecker Street and Greenwich Village. Park Slope is Brooklyn’s main shopping artery, where you can seek out vintage treasures and independent fashion. Many shops occupy the borough’s iconic brownstone buildings.
