In my opinion… this was not a 5 star hotel.
The location and the view are spectacular and breathtaking. I enjoyed my stay.
From my experience there are a number of things they could do to improve.
1. Be more clear about the climb to the villa. It is 14 switchback turns. You climb over 100 feet with luggage.
2. It was not clear in anyway that they would help you up with luggage.
3.there are no signs for villa Lia at via touro 11. There are no signs at the top if you should turn left or right.
4. It is not obvious at night that there are light switches for the climb.
5. I had no hot water the first day. It was not fixed that night. It was in the morning. There was no offer of accommodation or service recovery. I saw the manager the next morning. She did not check on me.
6. Staff who greeted me tried to have me pay 100 euro for “suite”. No explanation of what that gave me or offer to see room. If they have an empty suite, why not just upgrade me??? No sense of what 5 star should mean.
7. Waiter at lunch could barely open a bottle of wine. Cork broke for no reason. Young. New staff. Polite..but again… 5 star property should train staff.
8. Also wine ordered at 40 euro was not available. Offered others , price was 60 and we were not told.
9. No luggage rack in room
10. WiFi was poor in room. They accommodated w staff wifi password.
Again the property is GORGEOUS. The staff did all they could, I just think there is a lot mgmt could do to make it actual 5 Star.
